ਇਹ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਜਾਣ 'ਤੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਖਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅੰਬਰ ਹੁਸੈਨੀ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ,"ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਰਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਚਿਤਵਦੀ ਹਾਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਣ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਨਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਲੀਕ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।"
ਅੰਬਰ ਹੁਸੈਨੀ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਰੋਹੀ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਦੀਆਂਬਰੂਹਾਂ ਵਸਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬਹਾਵਲਪੁਰ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਾਦਾ ਮ. ਹੁਸੈਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਧੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ 1947 ਦੇ ਦੰਗਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਟੋਬਾ ਟੇਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਘਰ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਰਦਸ਼ਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਲੂੰਧਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਇਹੋ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਅੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਬਰ ਨੇ ਇਸਲਾਮੀਆ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਬਹਾਵਲਪੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਐਮ.ਬੀ. ਏ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਉਸਨੇ ਨਯਾ ਦੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਨਦ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਵੈਬਸਾਈਟਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੇ ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਦੀ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਪਛਾਣ 2023 ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨਾਵਲ "ਪੀਰੋ" ਬਣਿਆ। ਨਾਵਲ ਪੀਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਬਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਤ ਹੋਰ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ "ਮਰਦਾਨਗੀ" ਦੇ ਨਾਂਅ ਹੇਠ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਰਸਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਛਪ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ ।

When asked what inspires her to write, Amber Hosseini says: “I think of the people around me as the characters of a story. My desire to write about them brings their stories to life."
Amber Hosseini hails from Bahwalpur, a city on the edge of the vast Rohi desert in Southern Punjab, Pakistan. Her grandfather, M hussain, migrated to Pakistan from Ludhiana as a young man during the riots of 1947 after losing half of his family.
He set up his new home in a village in Toba Tek Singh. The pain and plight of millions of Punjabis kept his soul smouldering for the rest of his days, a sensitivity that Amber has also inherited.
Amber completed her MBA from Islamia University, Bahawalpur. After that, she started writing articles on social issues for online websites like Naya Daur and Panjand. Her first recognition in Punjabi literature was her debut Punjabi novel “Peero” published in 2023. Peero and seven other short stories by Amber have also been published in book form in Gurmukhi under the title "Mardangi".
Her short stories have also appeared in various literary magazines of West as well as East Punjab.
